Tell Congress to Fire the Swamp!

The Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs can legally fire bad federal employees much faster than other agencies. Tell Congress to extend this power to all Cabinet secretaries in the December spending bill.

Every member of Congress should support the MERIT Act, which would expedite the removal of federal employees who have engaged in misconduct or are simply not performing, while limiting appeals to 30 days. Under current law it can take multiple years to remove an employee. A system that was initially designed to stop political manipulation of the civil service has become an unhealthy protection of bad behavior.

Many Americans wonder how civil servants at the Justice Department who abused their power still have their jobs. The reason is because of antiquated civil service protections. Congress has already managed to reform this problem at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and it’s working, now it needs to be allowed to work for all the other departments and agencies to hold federal employees accountable for their actions.

This is a bill whose time has come.

I believe it is time to reduce the burden of government. It has too many employees doing little that could not make in the private sector. We have a trillion dollar debt, yet we are doing little to curb spending. We need to get our government fiscal budget balanced and reduce spending. A wall is a real step forward in curbing spending that presently goes to support illegals and their families, and extended families. Draining the Swamp also means getting rid of those who have been in government too long, who came in as poor as church mice and now find them self's among the financial elite. Also, if it is a crime to lie to congress, then prosecute. If it is a crime to lie on a FISA warrant prosecute them first and dismiss the charges against or about those the warrants were issued for. The FBI has too much power and they purposely seek to embarrass and threaten the citizens the can't control. Now is the time. Don't waste what precious time is left to do something. Stop the injustices that are being perpetrated.

All government workers should be evaluated annually based on a measurable ratings system. Almost all private companies have one. If you are not performing according to standards, then you are terminated. This measure alone will change the culture to get rid of this air of entitlement that government workers are noted for.

Veterans are sick and tired of incompetent leadership at VA. All of you politicians in NH know me and know what happened to me but you didn't help me when I begged you for help and needed you the most so I don't have high hopes any of you will support this bill because you proved to me your union VA jobs are more important than my life. I nearly died and all of you did next to nothing to help me. Why would I ever vote for a Democrat again? When you put VA jobs above the lives of human beings then you have lost your way. Self serving or ineffective employees must be shown the door as in any free market enterprise. We must never allow campaign contributions, lobbyists, to gain favorable legislation to large organizations. When you think about it, anything "Federal" should be to serve "the people". The fact that under the current system, when it comes to performance federal employees operate in a different system than those in the private sector. This is the epitome of unfair. It's time federal employees are required to perform, and behave, or find another job!

It's way past time to remove non-essential, non-performing, those under performing, guilty of dereliction of duty or corrupt employees to be fired and all benefits revoked! The pay scale and benefits of said employees needs to be reformed to reflect that of the private sector too. No one should be making more than those in the private sector for the same job. They should not make more in pay and benefits than the taxpayers that fund their salaries! America needs the Merit Act, today, ASAP, like yesterday, if not sooner! A deeper look into the budgets of agencies during the Obama era will reveal by internal budget coding how "program" money was used, illegally, for "salaries" to hire additional non-Schedule C staff (Schedule Cs for the most part, are the ones who must depart with the out of office) administration. The Deep State is real and got REALLY bigger and deeper in this 8 year timeframe.

Having a brother in law who worked hard for the FAA, I know that not all civil servants are bad but if there are bad ones, just like in public positions they need to be fired. Second, we the American people should not be paying for their Unions on top of paying their salaries. You wonder why more and more young people like my son are studying the different forms of anarchy. This is the perfect example of big government. If we don't change it, we are going to end up with riots in the streets on Washington DC and other major cities. Oh and they are guaranteed a retirement of luxury on the American tax payers dime.
