Urge President Trump to reject trade preferences for India and put America first!

India says it is ready to participate in the global economy, yet the sub-continent nation — which benefits with $4.7 billion a year from the U.S. General System of Preferences — charges big tariffs to U.S. exporters trying to do business over there.

India charges 13.4 percent tariffs on a most favored nation basis.

The U.S., on the other hand, charges just 3.7 percent tariffs for most favored nation trading.

In addition, the U.S. grants the additional favor to India, with a $2.45 trillion Gross Domestic Product, with $4.7 billion of duty-free trading under the General System of Preferences.

That’s not reciprocity. It’s not even free trade. It’s one-sided trade.

And it does not have to continue. You know what to do! Let’s urge President Trump and Congress to remove India from the General System of Preferences and pursue a bilateral trade agreement.

Right now, the U.S. does not receive similar trade preferences in return, and it is time that India join the U.S. in pursuing shared interests on free markets, intellectual property and labor.

A bilateral trade deal with India would be preferable to the blanket approach offered by the General System of Preferences, where India is treated the same as small, undeveloped countries. India has the sixth largest economy in the world. It is time for India meet the promise of their Make In India campaign and leave the little kids trade table and join the adults in a bilateral deal with the United States.

Tariffs are absolutely essential for the survival of liberty. Add, that during the Harding and Coolidge presidencies, high broad-based tariffs and low taxes brought more liberty than even Reagan. The Republican Party USED TO BE the party of the laborer!

By the information clearly spelled out above the U.S. does not by any means enjoy a level playing field with India. In fact India holds all the cards and the U.S. receives nothing but literal trade unfairness.

I agree with President Trump that it is time to review all trade agreements with other countries and update them so America continues to be a great nation and quit giving all foreigners American's money (taxes) to be spent foolishly by others for their gain and our loss.
